N.E.S.T. Program | Nurturing. Engaging. Sociable. Teaching.

The N.E.S.T program is a great start for the youth in our community. By following the four pillars of the program - Nurturing, Engaging, Sociable, Teaching - we create the best environment that leads to the enjoyment of soccer will last through the years! The goals of N.E.S.T. are to make each session consistent for all players, simplify scheduling, and provide a safe environment for practice and games. N.E.S.T. provides coaching education for those who volunteer to lead sessions and builds confidence so you can continue coaching in other CBSC programs.

We partner with Iowa Western Community College with the former Creighton standout and current assistant coach, Mike Paye, at Iowa Western Community College to lead and direct the N.E.S.T. program. Each session will have Iowa Western men's and women's soccer players assisting the volunteer coaches in facilitating training sessions and in demonstrating and modeling soccer specific skills.

    Week 3/4 Team Assignments - updated 9/5/19

    Monday Session: (2014s only)

Monday sessions are for the 2014 birth year (6U age group) only. This session will follow the whole-part-whole (scrimmage-activity-scrimmage) method. This method allows us to capture the players' attention immediately. When the first two players arrive you begin going to both goals in a 1v1 setup. You then progress by adding players until all players have arrived and you are playing 3v3 or 4v4 based on your roster size.

Here is the schedule breakdown for the session:

    • 0-15 Scrimmage
    • 15-20 Water Break
    • 20-35 Skill Activity
    • 35-40 Water Break
    • 40-55 Scrimmage

    Thursday Sessions: (2014, 2015, 2016s)

The goal for the Thursday session is to promote a memorable and fun learning environment. Games will be with your team. Each team needs two coach volunteers to assist with the session, one to coach and the other to manage the substitutions, to maximize time and keep participa/nts engaged.

    • 15-20 Water Break
    • 20-35 First Half (4v4)
