Coaches Receive Governor's Volunteer Award

The Council Bluffs Soccer Club is pleased to announce that the volunteer coaches of the Council Bluffs Soccer Club have been named recipients of the 2021 Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Award.  On Thursday in Des Moines, a virtual ceremony was held to honor the many individuals and groups who have given the precious gift of their time to meet essential needs and contributing their talents to enrich the State of Iowa.

Collectively, the volunteer coaches of CBSC, serve over 1,300 southwest Iowa youth, providing the opportunity to play soccer.  Among the countless hours spent, these volunteers organize practices, uniforms, and game management for the players and families on their teams.  As regulations have changed requiring additional pre-work and education courses to become a volunteer coach, they’ve continued to give more of their time to ensure our players have a safe environment in which to play. Each coach invests 4-10 hours per week planning and being present at team activities.

“The amount of time and energy our coaches invest in their teams on a collective level is nothing short of amazing. More than 150 volunteers ensure area players have the opportunity to be part of a team. As an organization, we are so appreciative of them and know that local soccer would not be possible without volunteers and are proud to nominate our coaches for this honor.” said Arian Haddix, executive director.
