COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA. The two largest youth soccer organizations in the City of Council Bluffs have officially become the largest youth soccer club in the State of Iowa as of this month.
The merger between Council Bluffs Youth Soccer Association (CBYSA) and Council Bluffs Futbol Club (CBFC), brings together over 2,000 youth soccer players from the city and surrounding area. The merger will allow both organizations to collaborate and develop quality programs for players of all levels and skills.
“We are excited to create a true soccer club and organization that will have a clear pathway for players of all skill levels. CBYSA has primarily been the recreational youth component for the last 25 years in the city,” stated Andy Smith, former CBYSA and new Council Bluffs Soccer Club President. “We have built a strong program and given players the opportunity to learn their skills in a fun environment while building a love of the game.”
The new Council Bluffs Soccer Club (CBSC) will offer programs in the following; recreational soccer, youth development program, academy soccer, select soccer, as well as winter training and camps. “CBFC was formed to help players who wanted to train and play at the competitive level the opportunity to do so here in Council Bluffs,” explained Ryan Osborn Sr, former President of CBFC and new secretary of CBSC. “In merging with CBYSA and creating one club, we now pool together the strengths of both organizations and create multiple opportunities for youth soccer players.”
